Tetsu Kagi is run by Tetsu Kagi, LLC and is open to invited people only while it is being tested. This page describes, in plain terms, what information Tetsu Kagi keeps and what it does with it. It is a description of how the system works today, not a finished legal privacy policy; that policy is still being prepared and reviewed.
What Tetsu Kagi keeps
- Your sign-in. You sign in through Microsoft Entra External ID, a sign-in service Microsoft runs for Tetsu Kagi. Your email address and password are held there. Tetsu Kagi's own database stores an internal account number linked to that sign-in, and your access level.
- Your questions and answers. Conversations are saved so that follow-up questions work and you can come back to them. Their text is encrypted with a key that belongs to your account alone.
- When you asked. The time of each question you ask, without its content, so your question allowance can be applied.
- Technical logs. To keep the service working, page requests are recorded: which page, when, how long it took, and any error. These logs do not contain the text of your questions. They are kept for up to 30 days.
- Cookies. Only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect forms. There are no advertising or analytics cookies and no tracking across other websites.
How your questions are answered
To answer a question, Tetsu Kagi sends its text to Microsoft's Azure OpenAI Service, which runs in Tetsu Kagi's own Microsoft Azure account. Everything Tetsu Kagi stores is in Microsoft Azure data centers in the United States. Connections to Tetsu Kagi are encrypted (HTTPS).
Tetsu Kagi does not sell your information, does not use it for advertising, and does not use your questions to train AI models.
How long it is kept
- A conversation expires 90 days after it starts. After that it is no longer shown to you, and it is removed from storage by a retention clean-up, which is currently run by hand.
- The times of your questions are removed by the same clean-up once they are 90 days old.
- If your access ends, your account record stays until you ask for it to be deleted.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of your saved conversations, or ask for your account to be deleted. Deleting your account permanently destroys the key that encrypts your conversations, removes their text, removes the record of when you asked questions, and ends your access.
To make a request, contact the person who invited you to Tetsu Kagi.
